Portrait Painting Workshop

 

Kerry will guide students through the process of painting a realistic portrait. Working from photographic reference of a master work, students will follow along the step by step process of painting a realistic portrait in oil. Students will learn about the proportions of the face, colour mixing, especially skin tones, and paint technique with oil.

Artists of all levels will be able to create a portrait they are proud of.

 

 

 

 

Supplies required:

 

Oil Paint colours:

Titanium white, Cadmium yellow light, Cadmium red light, Alizarin crimson, Ultramarine blue, Prussian blue, Raw umber

Acrylic paint colour:

Raw sienna

Brushes:

At least 4 synthetic brushes. A detail brush (tiny “0”), ¼” flat, ½” flat,1” flat.

Accessories: dark brown chalk pastel, Rags, Odorless solvent, jar for holding solvent, Disposable paper palette, sponge.

 

Painting support: 11”x14” stretched canvas.
